James holds an MA Music: Sound Production and also graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Music Technology from the University of the West of Scotland in 2017. He has been playing and composing music for over 20 years.
As a producer and mix engineer, he has worked with artists such as Heavy Rapids, Dear Stars, Long Way Home, Always Monday and Danny White.
His sound design work draws upon a wide range of influences including Cliff Martinez, Disasterpiece, Clint Mansell, Air, Hans Zimmer, Daft Punk, Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein.
James is also in demand as a live touring engineer working in notable venues including the SEC, King Tut's, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, HMT Aberdeen, Perth Concert Hall, Kings Theatre Edinburgh and the Atlas Theatre in Tenerife, as well as festivals such as Celtic Connections, Terminal V, Tectonics, Vibration Festival and Eilean Dorcha.
Clients include Sound Acoustics Productions, Sight & Sound Scotland, Coda Production Services, NightFlight Event Solutions, TED AV and Events Hire Scotland.
James released his debut EP, Reflections, a collection of ambient soundscapes and sonic landscapes in August 2018 and his currently working on a follow up due to be released in 2020.
